Texas Native Ties Tournament’s Low Round at 62

PENDLETON, Ore. (August 15, 2025) — The first round of the 2025 Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic is in the books, with two more rounds ahead for Epson Tour professionals this weekend. American Julia Gregg stands atop the leaderboard at 10-under, three strokes ahead of closest competitor Amari Avery of California. The round ties the tournament-record low from 2022.

The final two rounds are set to play out over Saturday and Sunday. Tournament play starts at 7:15 am both days at Wildhorse Golf Course, the championship course of Wildhorse Resort & Casino.

An Epson Tour rookie, Gregg’s Friday round was highlighted by 10 birdies, six of which came on the front nine. A former University of Arkansas standout, her previous low round on tour was a 66.

Rounding out the top five, Avery shot a 65, one off her previous best, and sits alone in second place. Americans Kayla Smith and Laney Frye, along with Germany’s Sophie Hausmann, are tied for third at 66.

The tournament’s late-summer placement is critical to Epson Tour professionals competing in the Race for the Card, a season-long points competition for LPGA Tour membership. Including the stop in Pendleton, only four tournaments remain and the top 15 in the rankings elevate to the LPGA for the upcoming 2026 season. Japan’s Erika Hara is No. 6 in the Race for the Card standings, as well as tied for sixth on the tournament, along with four other golfers.

Kennewick native Therese Warner tied her previous tournament best with a 70. Sponsor exemption Selanée Henderson Pendleton, a descendant of the Walla Walla Tribe, shot a 5-over-par 77.

Tickets are still on sale. General admission is $12 and covers the remaining days of the tournament. Wildhorse Resort & Casino Club Wild members can receive free admission by visiting the club’s desk this weekend. Children 15 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
